
Dr. Ryan Behan will teach a masterclass and perform
as a guest artist at the University of Mount Union on Wednesday, January
30 in Presser Recital Hall.
Behan will teach a piano masterclass at 4 p.m., followed by a piano performance at 7:30 p.m.
Behan, adjunct faculty pianist at The Ohio State University, has won
acclaim from audiences in Europe and the United States as a soloist and
collaborative pianist. In recent years he has presented bicentennial
celebration concerts devoted to the solo, chamber music and vocal
literature of Franz Liszt, Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann and as a
strong proponent of new music he has premiered numerous compositions,
with performances of the solo piano works of Alexander Müllenbach and
Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner at the Contemporary
Music Festival in Columbus.
A winner in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, Behan
has served as a collaborative pianist for the Mozarteum International
Sommerakademie in Salzburg and the American Institute of Musical Studies
in Graz, Austria. He also performs regularly with members of the
Columbus Symphony, Dayton Philharmonic and Indianapolis Symphony, with
performances broadcast on BBC Radio and NPR.
Presser Recital Hall is located in Cope Music Hall on the corner of
Simpson Street and Union Avenue. The masterclass and recital are both
